How we keep the work honest.
A short, plain-language summary of the rules our editorial team works under.
Independence
Travel Websites Directory does not accept paid placements, affiliate revenue, sponsored content, or comped trips. If that policy ever changes, the change will be announced clearly across the site before any affected content is published. Until then, every recommendation reflects only the editorial judgment of our team.
Sources
Our travel content draws from three sources, in this order of weight. First, direct field experience by the editor writing the piece. Second, verification by a second editor with separate field experience. Third, published material from independent publications, government tourism resources, and primary documents like airline contracts of carriage.
We do not draw from other travel blogs or aggregator sites. When public data is cited, the source is linked or named.
Fact and price checking
Prices, opening hours, and timetables are verified within the week of publication. Costs are written as ranges, not single figures, because travel rarely costs exactly what a blog post claims. When we can't verify a number, we don't print one.
Corrections
We correct errors quickly, in the article itself, and we mark material corrections at the bottom of the page with a short note. Typos and small clarifications are corrected silently.
Reader corrections can be sent through the contact form. We aim to reply within two business days.
Use of AI
We do not publish AI-generated articles. Editors may use language models for tasks like spell-checking, formatting, or summarizing a long source, but every published sentence is read, rewritten where needed, and signed off by a human editor.
Anonymity and consent
When we quote a restaurant owner, hotel manager, or local guide by name, we have their permission. When the conversation was casual or off the record, we paraphrase without identifying detail.
Imagery
Photographs are sourced from licensed editorial libraries or commissioned directly. We caption images with location and, where relevant, photographer credit. We do not use generative AI images.
Conflicts of interest
If an editor has a personal connection to a place, restaurant, or business covered in an article, the connection is disclosed at the bottom of the article. If the conflict is material, the article is reassigned.
Diversity of voice
Our editorial team is small but deliberately international. We aim for guides written by editors who know the place from inside, not from a quick visit.
Reader privacy
We collect the minimum analytics needed to understand which articles are useful. We do not sell reader data. Our full privacy policy covers the details.
